Brand Protection Investigator/Analyst

Edinboro, Pennsylvania

IP Services is looking for Brand Protection Investigators/Analysts with strong IT skills, the ability to think on their feet, and a willingness to engage with investigative subjects in an undercover capacity through phone calls, social media, email, and messaging apps. Well-developed OSINT skills are highly desirable.

What the day looks like:

  • Engage in calls with suspected scammers and resellers to develop intelligence 
  • Conduct online investigative research using innovative open-source intelligence (OSINT) techniques, such as geolocation, advanced keyword searching, and network analysis
  • Conduct undercover test purchases under direction of experienced investigator
  • Receive, photograph and label evidence, create chain of custody
  • Create case files
  • Update tracking files and databases
  • Draft detailed investigation reports and follow up with clients

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple deadlines and shifting priorities, while staying organized and focused
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to follow detailed directions
  • Strong verbal communication skills with ability to maintain composure during difficult conversations; Ability to communicate with sellers or scammers under assumed identity via phone, text, email, or message boards
  • Ability to write detailed, comprehensive notes and reports
  • Ability to work well in a dynamic, fast-moving team environment
  • Ability to periodically travel for business if necessary

Other skills that will get our attention:

  • Experience with some of the following: Social Media Platforms, blogs, IRC, Deep/Dark web, and message boards
  • Experience with computer networks, virtual machines, Hyper-V, VPN technologies, and cyber security
  • Experience with Wireshark/network packet capture
  • Fluency in more than one language

Due to the need to handle physical evidence, Investigators/Analysts will work on-site at our Erie or Edinboro, PA office at least three days a week.
